Skills Competition

The following will be the "Skills Competition" for the Cougar Cup, 2008.

Skaters Team Relay

Six (6) players from each team will line up on each blue line, pylons are placed in the hash marks at each of the four centres, and tires are placed on the side of where the net would normally be located.

The players will skate around the ice in a clockwise fashion, circling the perimeter of the ice, until returning back to their respective blue lines, where they pass a baton to the next player.  That player does the same, until all five players have completed the circuit.  The sixth player will complete the circuit skating backwards.

The winning team is the first to complete the task.

This will be conducted in two heats.  With the first and second place teams advancing to a finals, immediately following the two heats.
Skaters Agility Relay
Four (4) teams participate in this one, with eight (8) players, four at each end of the ice.   Players on the top of the screen, first go through a number of pylons.  They then have to push themselves and the  puck, under a chair and stick located at centre ice, before then going around two tires located at the bottom of the screen.  They then pass the puck to their opposite player, who then goes through the same course to the opposite end of the ice.

If a player moves a pylon, they must put the pylon back and start again.  If they knock the stick off the two chairs, they must put the stick back, and go under again, and if they do not go through the tires correctly, they must do it again.  The fastest team in each heat will then go head-to-head in the finals.

Skaters Break Away Shoot-Out

Each of the teams participating will provide two (2) skaters and a minimum of one (1) goaltender.

Players will be separated and one skater will be send to one end of the ice, the other to the opposite end.

The first goalie will be put in the net, and then all 8 players will have a penalty shot on the goalie.  After that is completed, the second goalie will go into the net, and again, those same players will shoot on that goalie, and so on, until all goalies have been tested.

The best goalie and player from the east and the best from the west will then have one opportunity to score on the goalies.  The player that makes the most goal's and the goalie that makes the most saves, will be the winners.

Our score sheet for this one, will be as follows:
