NOTICE: Information on End of Game Procedure

2014-12-23

GHA Referee-In-Chief Stephen Hope has requested that the following information on end of game procedures be posted.

The GHA and GCMHA have observed that the new rules for curfew and the end of game procedure in all divisions of House League need to be distributed again, due to confusion.

The new end of game procedure for House League ONLY has been in effect since the beginning of the 2014-15 season.

The procedure is as follows:
  • As soon as the arena clock hits the designated curfew time, the game is to stop at the direction of the timekeeper.
  • It is the responsibility of the timekeeper to use the buzzer on the score clock's controls to end the game as soon as the clock reaches it's designated curfew time.
  • In previous years, the game ended at the first whistle after the game reaches its curfew time. This is no longer the case.
  • NOTE: The referee is unable to use his whistle to end the game, as per the official rule. Ending the game is solely the responsibility of the timekeeper.

The GHA and the GCMHA request that coaches, players, parents and timekeepers be notified of this rule change.
