2007/2008 was a super year for the Novice ‘A’ Cougars team

2007/2008 was a super year for the Novice ‘A’ Cougars team.  There was tremendous camaraderie between players, parents and coaches alike.  The team also did well on the ice and ended up losing in overtime in the GHA final.  But more importantly it marked the beginning of many seasons of practices, power skating, off-ice training, games and tournaments.  The boys experienced a lot of hard work and fun.
It is with pride that we recognize each of the twelve players on the team nine years later.  Some have continued to represent us as proud Cougars, while others have played years of competitive minor hockey at the Rep B through AAA levels.
What is noteworthy, however, is that six of the ‘1999’ Cougars will play Junior hockey this season.  This is perhaps even more remarkable given that the boys are only 17 years old and are now competing in leagues with players as old as 20 or 21.
Jean-Sylvain Boyer, J.S. Gratton and Alex Robert are playing with the Clarence Beavers; Dylan Curry is wearing an Arnprior Packers sweater.  J.J. Boucher recently signed with the Kanata Lasers and Darcy Walsh is now a veteran with the Ottawa Jr. Sens.
The GCMHA offers it’s congrats to the alumni of the Novice ‘A’ 07/08 team.  As Cougars continue move on from minor hockey it is fun to look back from time to time and compare with the IP and Novice seasons of… fall down… get up… fall down.
